Environment & Climate Risk Management

Environmental Management

Jordan Ahli Bank is dedicated to improving energy conservation and resource management. A significant milestone for 2025 was the official finalization of the Bank’s ISO 14001 certification. This achievement strengthens the Bank’s environmental management systems (EMS) and ensures that monitoring practices meet international standards.

The Operational boundary for these calculations encompasses only Jordan Ahli Bank’s facilities and operations within Jordan.

Climate Risk at Jordan Ahli Bank

Climate change presents both risks and opportunities for the banking sector. At Jordan Ahli Bank, climate considerations are integrated into our governance, risk management, lending decisions, and strategic planning to support a resilient, low-carbon economy.
Through our evolving sustainability strategy, we have adopted a Double Materiality approach that enables us to assess climate-related risks and opportunities from both financial and environmental perspectives. This approach strengthens decision-making, enhances resilience, and supports long-term value creation for our stakeholders.

Climate Risk Integration into Enterprise Risk Management

Climate-related risks and opportunities are embedded within the bank’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework through:

  • Climate Risk Management Policy.
  • ESG Due Diligence Process.
  • Climate Scenario Analysis.
  • Stress Testing Framework.
  • Sustainable Finance Framework.
  • Portfolio Risk Assessment.

Climate Risk Governance

This ensures that climate considerations are incorporated into risk management, lending, and strategic decision-making processes.
Jordan Ahli Bank conducts annual climate scenario analysis and stress testing in alignment with the Central Bank of Jordan’s requirements. Climate-related exposures are assessed across vulnerable sectors and portfolios. The assessment identified no material climate-related exposures requiring Board escalation, while the Capital Adequacy Ratio remained resilient under both moderate and severe climate scenarios. Overall, climate-related risks are currently considered manageable within the bank’s risk appetite, with ongoing monitoring in place for sectors exhibiting elevated climate sensitivity.
